MOST POPULAR VISIT PLACES SOUTHERN SRI LANKA

The "down south" or Southern Province of Sri Lanka, known for its beaches and relaxed atmosphere, includes cities like Galle, Matara,Tangalle,Dickwella, Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Mirissa, and Hambantota.

The south coast of Sri Lanka covers the area from the beaches just east of Galle down to the port of Hambantota. The beaches here are generally far less touristy than those of the busier west coast; it's not unusual to find yourself alone on long, dreamy stretches of palm-fringed sand, especially east of Matara.

If you’ve traveled around Asia and spent any time in Sri Lanka, you’re likely to have noticed that this beautiful island nation in the Indian Ocean is incredibly easy to travel in compared to its more intense neighbors. After two visits, I know I’d happily go back because there’s just so much to see and do in Sri Lanka, the nature in Sri Lanka is fantastic, the people are friendly, the tourism infrastructure is top-notch, and it’s quite affordable to travel in. Oh, and did I mention the food? The husband wants to return to Sri Lanka just so he can eat his way around the country. And I truly believe that I could eat kothu roti everyday and not tire of it.

The Down south of Sri Lanka is one of the best-kept secrets in the Asian Region. However, that secret is quickly revealed as more and more travellers gather to Sri Lanka to its stunning beaches, incredible wildlife, rich culture, and classical heritage landmarks. Unless they have originally completed their Sri Lanka travel route in the south, most travellers are a fascinating part of the countryside to travel if you have a few days in Sri Lanka. Although that area has the most excellent beaches in Sri Lanka, the south shore offers much beyond its sandy coastline.
